REAR SUSPENSION

RAIL SLIDER INSPECTION

WARNING
Avoid operating for extended periods on ice and other
surfaces that have little or no snow for lubrication.
Operating with insufficient lubrication between the rail
slide and track guide clips can cause track failure, loss
of vehicle control, and loss of braking ability, which can
result in serious injury or death.
The rear suspension rail sliders need snow for
lubrication. Excessive wear indicates insufficient
lubrication. A new rail slide can cause faster heat build-
up in limited lubrication, resulting in excessive wear.
Measure slide thickness at several points along the rail
q
. Have your dealer replace the slide when it's worn
down to the top of the wear limit indicator groove. Do not
operate the snowmobile if slide thickness measures less
than 7/16 in (1.1 cm).
Worn rail sliders can be removed from the suspension
without removing the track.
Raise the rear suspension off of the ground. Loosen the
track tension. Rotate the track to access the screw
securing the slider at the front of the beam.
Apply spray lubricant to the rail beam. Use a small pry
bar to drive the slider rearward until removed.
NOTICE
Replace rail sliders in pairs.

TRACK INSPECTION

WARNING
Broken track rods can cause a rotating track to come off
the snowmobile, which could cause serious injury or
death. Never operate with a damaged track. Never
rotate a damaged track under power.
1. Using a hoist, safely lift and support the rear of the
snowmobile off the ground.
2. Rotate the track by hand to check for damage to the
cover, lugs, drive windows, drive cogs, and rods.
3. Carefully examine the track along the entire length of
each rod. Bend the track to check for breakage.
NOTICE
Image for reference only.
4. Replace the track if any rod damage is found.
