CRANKCASE SEALANT PATH

Apply crankcase sealant to the flat machined case mating surface using the sealant path below. The maximum sealant
bead width when applying crankcase sealant cannot exceed specification. Be sure to keep sealant 0.157 - 0.197 in (4 -
q
5 mm) away from the inner edges of the water pump cross shaft gallery (between the two seal grooves) .
IMPORTANT
The upper / lower crankcase mating surfaces must be cleaned using a gasket scraper and then wiped clean with
Acetone.
Maximum case sealant working time is 10 minutes. Crankcase halves must be installed and fasteners torqued to

specification within 10 minutes of initial sealant application.
After the proper torque has been applied to the crankcase fasteners, allow crankcase sealant to cure for at least 1
hour before proceeding with engine reassembly.

NOTICE

Do not over-apply sealant in the oil injector area . Doing so may block oil passages. Do not fill the MAG side Oil
Gallery with case sealant.
