CYLINDER REMOVAL

1. Remove the cylinder head. See Cylinder Head
Removal page 3.75.
2. Remove the fuel rail mounting fasteners
rail from the upper fuel injectors.
IMPORTANT
Discard fuel rail mounting fasteners. Replace with new
during installation.
3. Loosen all, then remove the six cylinder fasteners

4. Carefully pull the cylinder
to drop the piston and rod abruptly against the
crankcase.

The space between the cylinder studs and over
structure is limited. Be careful not to damage the over
structure during cylinder removal.
5. Remove the cylinder base gasket
gasket residue from the crankcase and cylinder
bases.

6. Inspect the cylinder walls. Nicasil cylinders can only
be lightly honed. Damage that cannot be removed
with a light hone requires cylinder replacement or
rechroming.
