18-5.
Pressure Position Changing Mechanism
• The pressure position of the Y, M, and C Image Transfer Rollers is made different from
that of the Bk Image Transfer Roller in the monochrome mode by changing the pulse
count of the 1st Image Transfer Pressure/Retraction Motor.
• Changing the motor pulse count results in the position at which each of the Image Trans-
fer Rollers is pressed against the Transfer Belt being changed through a cam.
1. Monochrome mode
• The pressure position in the monochrome mode is where only the Bk PC Drum is in con-
tact with the Transfer Belt.
• The Y, M, and C PC Drums leave the Transfer Belt, which allows the Y, M, and C PC
Drums to remain stationary in this mode, extending the service life of the PC Drums.
2. Color Mode
• The pressure position of the Image Transfer Rollers is where the PC Drum is in contact
with the Transfer Belt for all four colors.
