21-4.
Lower Fusing Roller Pressure/Retraction Mechanism
• To extend the service life of the Fusing Belt, the Lower Fusing Roller is retracted from the
Fusing Belt at any time except during a copy cycle or when there is a paper misfeed.
• A motor dedicated to the purpose is used to press the Lower Fusing Roller up against,
and retract it from, the Fusing Belt.
• The Lower Fusing Roller at the pressed position is detected by the Fusing Pressure
Position Sensor.
• The Fusing Pressure Position Sensor is also used to count a given number of pulses, as
started counting from the pressed position to stop the Lower Fusing Roller at the
retracted position.
