Note:
The term Server A refers to one of the two servers in a duplicated ESS. An ESS

that is running on Communication Manager Release 5.2 or later will register and
filesync to the main server running Communication Manager Release 5.1.x or
prior, only if the Server A of the ESS is active. Typically, Server A will be the
Server 1 as identified in the ID field in the output of the CLI command server, or
in the ID field in the output of the Server --> Status Summary screen in the SMI.
To interchange the servers, if necessary:
1. Access the System Management Interface (SMI) of the standby ESS.
2. Under Server, click Interchange Servers.
3. Click Interchange
The system displays a confirmation message that the interchange has taken place. This server
is now the active server.

Post-Upgrade tasks

You must use SAT commands on the active server for the tasks

scheduled maintenance with SAT (main server only)
Checking for translation corruption with SAT (main server only)
Copying IP telephone firmware to the server, if necessary
(main servers only)
If, before the upgrade, the server served as an http server for IP telephone firmware, download
the most recent IP telephone firmware bundle from the Avaya Firmware Download Web site.
Installing the IP Telephone firmware bundle reinstates the 46xx IP Telephone Web page in
Communication Manager and also makes the 46xx IP Telephone firmware for the tftp or http
server capability of the server.
Note:
The IP telephone firmware that was originally downloaded is overwritten.
Note:
To copy files to the server:
1. On the System Management Interface (formerly known as Maintenance Web Interface),
under Administration > Server (Maintenance) > Miscellaneous, click Download Files.
2. Select File(s) to download from the machine I'm using to connect to the server.
