4. Replace all cable connections to the front and back panels of the server.

Restoring power to the server

To restore power to the server:
1. Apply power to the server by plugging the power cable into the socket on the back of the
server.

Verify that the DAL2 card is installed correctly

1. Connect to the server.
2. From the command line, run cat /proc/mdd.
The system responds with
The card memory is 512 MB if it sees the DAL2 card installed in the server.

CAUTION:
If the cat /proc/mdd command is performed on a pre 5.0 Communication
CAUTION:
Manager release, the command displays "This DAL-1 card STANDBY". The
output should be ignored if a DAL-2 card has been installed in preparation for the
5.0 upgrade. In release 5.0 and later, the output of cat /proc/mdd reports the
DAL-2 card.

Disconnecting from the server

Disconnect the laptop from the services port on the back of the server.

Connecting to the standby server

If you are on site, connect to the services port on the back of the standby server.
If you are off site, log on to the standby server with the actual IP address of the standby server.

To clear alarms:
Upgrade tasks for the new standby server (second server)
