For effective troubleshooting and repairs, you must have a good understanding
of the electrical circuits and components that are used on this machine; refer to
the Electrical schematics in this chapter.
If the machine has any interlock switches that are bypassed, connect the
switches for the correct troubleshooting and safety.
Note: For engine component testing information, refer to the Honda Service
Manual.
Problem
Engine will not start
Engine will start, but will not
continue to run.
Possible Cause
ON/OFF switch is in the OFF
position.
Ignition spark plug wire is not
connected to the spark plug.
(Optional) Traction control is
not in the NEUTRAL position.
An engine problem exists
that prevents the engine from
running.
ON/OFF switch is faulty.
Electrical wires are loose or
damaged.
The fuel tank is empty.
The ON/OFF switch is
damaged.
Electrical wires are loose or
damaged.
An engine problem exists that
causes the engine to stop.

Correction
Turn the switch to ON.
Connect the spark plug wire to
the spark plug.
Place the traction lever in the
NEUTRAL position.
Repair the engine.
Replace the ON/OFF switch.
Check the electrical
connections. Repair the
wiring as needed.
Fill the fuel tank with fuel.
Replace the ON/OFF switch.
