hw-module system max-port-num-mode 1/2
This command is supported only on a 10-slot chassis.
Note
To enable support for the WS-X4640-CSFP-E linecard in a 10-slot chassis, use the hw-module system
max-port-num-mode 2 command. To restore the default mode, use hw-module system
max-port-num-mode 1 command or use the no form of the commands.
Syntax Description hw-module system
max-port-num-mode 2
hw-module system
max-port-num-mode 1
no hw-module system
max-port-num-mode 1
no hw-module system
max-port-num-mode 2
Command Default Unless max-port-num-mode is configured to 2, system assumes max-port-num-mode1 as the default
mode with 48 ports and 8 LC slots.

Examples
The following example shows how to enable support for the WS-X4640-CSFP-E linecard in a 10-slot
chassis:
Switch# enable
Switch# config terminal

A reload of the active supervisor is required to apply the new configuration.
After reload, last 3 Line card slots will not be active
