Manual reception

Selecting this mode is convenient if a telephone is connected to the machine
and the same line, which is primarily used for phoning, is also used for faxing.
The fax document can immediately be received after talking with the caller
over the telephone.

Detail
A manual reception can be performed when a telephone is connected to
the external telephone port of this machine.
To use manual reception, set "RX MODE" in Utility mode to "MANUAL
RX". For details, refer to "Selecting the reception mode ("RX MODE"
parameter)" on page 6-84.

After the telephone rings, pick up the receiver to talk with the caller.

After talking and long beeps are heard from the caller's fax machine,
press the [Start] key.
– If the caller's fax machine is set to send automatically, the long
beeps may not be sounded.
The machine starts receiving the fax.

Return the telephone receiver to its cradle. The machine sounds a beep
when the fax reception is finished.

The ringer of the connected
telephone continues ringing.
After the receiver is picked up and the
conversation is completed, press the
[Start] key to begin receiving the fax.
