7.6.5 Replacing the Failed Internal Hard Disk Unit

When an array system (RAID1/5/10) is configured with the SCSI RAID of this server, a failed hard disk
unit can be replaced and the system restored without turning off the server and peripheral devices (hot
swappable/hot pluggable). For array systems, refer to "PRIMERGY RX600 S3 Onboard SCSI RAID
Users Guide".
Perform the replacement as follows:
1
Locate the failed hard disk unit by checking the hard disk failure LED of each
bay.
2
Pull out the failed hard disk unit a little (1-3cm).
3
Wait for approximately 60 seconds (until motor rotating of the hard disk stops
rotating) and pull out the failed hard disk unit.
4
Insert a new hard disk unit.
5
Execute "Rebuild" of the new hard disk.
"Rebuild" or "Make Standby" may be executed automatically after replacing the hard disk unit.
This can be checked from the status of the hard disk failure LED.
