ip msdp default-peer <peer-address>[list <acl-number>]
no ip msdp default-peer <peer-address>
<peer-address>
list <acl-number>
There is no default peer from which to accept all Multicast Source
Discovery Protocol (MSDP) source-active (SA) messages by de-
fault.
1. Use the ip msdp default-peer command if you do not want
to configure your MSDP peer to be a BGP peer also.
2. If only one MSDP peer is configured by the ip msdp peer com-
mand, this peer can serve as the default MSDP peer. In this
case, there is no need to configure the default MSDP peer with
this command.
3. If there is no list <acl-number> specified, local router will ac-
cept all Multicast Source Discovery Protocol (MSDP) source-ac-
tive (SA) messages from the default peer. If list <acl-number>
is specified, local router will receive source-active (SA) mes-
sages derived from the default MSDP peer and generated by
the rendezvous point (RP) matching list <acl-number>.
4. This command can be configured many times, but all config-
ured commands must carry the list parameter, or there are
no list parameters for all configured commands. Specific rules
are as follows:
i. When multiple commands carry the list parameter , mul-
tiple default MSDP peers with different rendezvous point
(RP) prefixes can be simultaneously used. This rule is gen-
erally used for the network connecting multiple stub site
subnets.
ii. When multiple commands with no list parameter are used,
only one active default MSDP peer is used to accept all
source-active (SA) messages. Once this MSDP peer leaves,
it will switch to another configured default MSDP peer. This
rule is generally used for a single stub site.
