BASIC OPERATION

■ Turning power ON
Pror to usng the transcever for the first tme, the battery
pack must be fully charged for optmum lfe and operaton.
(p. 39)
q Rotate [VOL] to turn the power ON.
w If the transcever s programmed for a start up password,
nput the dgt codes as drected by your dealer.
• The keys n the table below can be used for password nput:
• The transcever detects numbers n the same block as dentcal.
Therefore "01234" and "56789" are the same.

e When the "PASSWD" ndcaton does not clear after nput-
tng 4 dgts, the nput code number may be ncorrect. Turn
the power off and start over n ths case.

D Battery type selection
The battery type MUST be selected accordng to the type of
battery attached when turnng the transcever ON.
Ask your dealer for detals.
NOTE: When the selected battery type s not matched to the
attached battery, the transcever does not work correctly.
q Turn the power OFF n advance.
w Whle pushng and holdng [Top] and [PTT], rotatng [VOL]
to turn power ON to toggle the attachng battery type.
• After the dsplay appears, release [Top] and [PTT].
• "DRY" s dsplayed for about 3 sec. then "LOW" appears when
the Alkalne battery operaton s selected. In ths case, the
transmt output power s low.
• "LI-ION" s dsplayed for about 3 sec. when the Lthum-on bat-
tery operaton s selected.
