3. Archive System

Explanation of the Archive System
The GRUNDIG archive system is an electronic notebook.
In its standard configuration, it can store up to 700 titles
along with a wealth of information.
You can upgrade the archive system to store up to 1400
titles. Consult your GRUNDIG dealer.
To ensure that your entries in the archive remain stored,
you must follow the procedures in the first part of the
operating instructions, page 51, » Before you take your
recorder for repairs ... «.
» ARCH I V « is always shown in the recorder´s display when
you work with the archive system.
Note the following to take full advantage of the archive
system.
1. Automatic archiving
Your recordings can only be archived if the cassettes´s num-
ber and total playing time are correctly recognized, or if they
are manually entered. For this reason, always check each
recording or recording programme´s data by pressing the
button.
One of the following three messages will appear in the recor-
der´s display:

2. Cassette numbers
The archive stores cassettes in numerical order.
For recordings you make yourself which are automatically
archived, the cassette number is recorded on the tape. After
the tape length is measured (ATTS), the total playing time,
the elapsed playing time, and the number of the inserted cas-
sette appear in the recorder´s display. A menu with the cas-
sette´s contents appears on your TV screen.
You must always enter the number of subsequently archived
cassettes yourself. This is done by entering the cassette
number as a three-place number with the
buttons and confirming with the
A menu with the contents
Mark all cassettes with the number which is entered in the
archive system. This makes it easier for your to search for a
specific title.
3. Record programming
We recommend using Variant 1 for record programming
when recording broadcasts from stations with Teletext.
For television stations without Teletext, Variant 3 can be used
and title and category are entered immediately. If a recording
is "overwritten", the recorder automatically updates the ex-
isting data entries of this cassette.
This means that your archive is always up-to-date.
4. Title and category
15 different categories are available for clearly organizing and
finding stored titles. You can assign a name of your choice to
14 of these categories. If a category contains an entry, howe-
ver, the category´s name cannot be changed.
The category » DIVERSE « is reserved for immediate recor-
dings for which no title is archived. Such recordings are filed
with the TV station identification abbreviation and start time
as the title.
5. Long-play recordings
Entries in the archive refer to the standard playing time.
Long-play playback takes twice as long as the difference bet-
ween the start and the stop point in the archive.
We recommend adding the abbreviation » LP « after a long-
play title so that you know the actual LP cassette playback
time.
6. Calling up the cassette contents
Press the

sette inserted in the recorder.
