Alignment Fails

Data Cannot Be Collected (or Other Software Problems)

2. Choose Experiment Setup > Diagnostic > Align and wait for alignment to complete.

7. If the power to the instrument was recently turned on, allow 1 to 6 hours for the
temperature to completely stabilize.
Note If you are using purge and the accessory cover was recently opened (or a service
representative opened the main cover), allow the instrument to equilibrate for 1 to
6 hours after the cover is closed.
8. Choose Experiment Setup > Bench, click the Laser icon and check the laser indicators.
If a laser measurement is out of tolerance, contact Technical Support for assistance (see

1. Make sure any accessories are installed according to the instructions that came with them.
2. Check the sample compartment windows for damage. Contact Technical Support for
assistance if they are not clear or appear to be damaged.
3. Choose Experiment Setup > Diagnostic. If one of the status indicators has a red slash
through it, click the indicator and follow the on-line instructions to resolve the problem.
4. Choose Experiment Setup > Diagnostic > Reset Bench. Make sure the system has been
on for at least 15 minutes (one hour for best results), and then choose Align on the
Diagnostic tab.
5. If no interferogram appears after alignment, select View Reference Detector on the
Diagnostic tab. If the interferogram appears, you may have a problem with the sample
detector. Contact Technical Support for assistance; see
