To install a slide-mounted accessory
1. Slide the accessory into one pair of slots in the iD1 Transmission Accessory.
Choose a pair of slots that will place the center of the accessory at the beam focus
(designated by arrow heads on the accessory housing).

The iS5N spectrometer is configured with a white light source and a highly sensitive detector
for near-infrared measurements. When collecting near-infrared data for most sample types, an
attenuation screen is needed to decrease the light from the source in order to prevent detector
saturation. The kit that comes with the spectrometer contains four screens for this purpose.

The spectrometer's default Gain setting is optimized for data collection with the iD1 accessory
and C screen in place. Changing the attenuation screen will affect the amount of incident
light that reaches the detector, thereby producing a larger or smaller interferogram signal.
Changing the Gain setting can also be used to amplify or reduce the interferogram signal.
Ideally, the (interferogram) signal should be just below 6 volts. If the signal is too low for a
