Softouch Pointer Technical Information

Expected Product Life
When used and stored according to the provided instructions, Softouch has a life expectancy of
at least five years. Depending on the used battery type and frequency of use, the Softouch
pointer can be used for at least one year until the battery must be replaced.
Modification
Warning
Modification of the device is not allowed.
Battery Safety
Warning
Do not use Softouch if it is leaking battery acid. In case of failure, contact Brainlab
Support.
Remove the battery when the pointer is not used over more than six months to prevent the
battery from leaking.
MRI Environment
Softouch is labeled as "MR conditional <0.5 mTesla." The pointer functionality was successfully
tested in 1.5 and 3 Tesla scanner MRI environments up to the 50 Gauss (5 mTesla) line.
Warning
Softouch may only be used in an MRI environment that has 5 Gauss (0.5 mTesla) fringe
field line clearly indicated on the floor around the MRI scanner.

Do not use or bring Softouch beyond the 5 Gauss (0.5 mTesla) fringe field line as indicated
on the floor around the MRI scanner.
Warning
Do not use or activate Softouch during an MRI exam.
Warning
After use, always store Softouch outside the MRI environment room.
