Z-touch Laser Pointer Technical Information
Storage
Always store the pointer in the relevant compartment of the supplied protective case when not in
use. Make sure to lock it to prevent unauthorized use. Remove the battery when the pointer is not
used over more than six months to prevent the battery from leaking.
MRI Environment
Z-touch is labeled as "MR conditional <0.5 mTesla." Z-touch functionality was successfully tested
in 1.5 and 3 Tesla scanner MRI environments up to the 50 Gauss (5 mTesla) line. The testing
demonstrated that the magnetically induced displacement force of the Z-touch is less than its
gravity force for a static magnetic field of 3 Tesla MRI environment with |∇B| < 1 Tesla/m and |B| x
|∇B| < 3 Tesla²/m (values extrapolated).
Warning
Z-touch may only be used in an MRI environment with a 5 Gauss (0.5 mTesla) line clearly
indicated on the floor surrounding the MRI scanner. Do not use or bring Z-touch inside the
5 Gauss line.
NOTE: After use, always store Z-touch in the provided storage case outside the MRI environment.
Possible Side Effects
The eyes are probably the only area which can be damaged by the laser beam of Z-Touch Laser
Pointer. The most likely side-effects following exposure are:

Explanation
Temporary vision impairment, possibly lasting several minutes, which occurs af-
ter exposure to a bright light.
Perception of spots in field of vision. This may last several minutes, even sever-
al days in severe cases.
Reduction or complete loss of sight in central field of vision due to exposure to a
direct or scattered beam. Once the laser beam is out of the field of view, the
glare ceases.
