9.1 Software maintenance

Rexroth provides updates for ActiveShuttles and the AMS as part of the product warranty and applicable
service contracts.
9.1.1 Server operation & maintenance
The operation and maintenance of the server where AMS runs is the responsibility of the customer. It
includes, among other things:
The installation of Linux updates
The installation of AMS updates
The installation of Docker updates
Security measures (e.g. user permissions, firewall, logs, etc.)
Backup and restore
Backup and restore
In case a backup and restore process is needed, the following files and databases must be saved:
MongoDB
InfluxDB
Keycloak database, i.e. Postgres
Maps saved in mapsrv
Maps saved in VMS service
In case a backup and restore process is needed, the following files and databases must be saved:
MongoDB
InfluxDB
Keycloak database, i.e. Postgres
Maps saved in mapsrv (map images)
Maps saved in VMS service (localization maps)
Notice: When performing data migration to another server or database, the AMS services need to be
stopped in order to make sure no new data will be added to the old database during the backup.
For a regular backup process (for example, to be able to rollback the state to a previous point in time) please
consider that MongoDB does not take too long to produce a backup (~ 1 GB of data) whereas InfluxDB can
quickly accumulate several gigabytes of data and would take time to produce a rolling backup.
Therefore, please take into account the capacities of your infrastructure in order to balance your backup
interval between backup needs (as often as possible) and your network and database load caused by the
backups. In a medium-range setup, an interval might be once a day for Influx and hourly for MongoDB.
Backup dependencies
The maps saved in the mapsrv and the maps saved in the VMS service (localization maps) are
referenced (directly and indirectly) in the MongoDB. Therefore backups of the maps and the
MongoDB should always be done synchronously (at the same point in time). This ensures a
consistent rollback is possible.
