ESim for the PC4 and PF8 Printer Programmer's Reference Manual
The firmware has memory allocation for print image buffer,
form, graphic, and external font memory. The first time the
printer is used, it is automatically initialized to default settings.
For help, see
"Default Setup" on page 18.
Flash memory is used to store information when the power is off.
Since flash memory chips have a limited lifetime regarding
number of writes, it is recommended that all commands that
write to flash memory be used sparingly. Commands that write to
flash memory are Store commands such as Print Setup, Error
Setup, General Setup, Form and Image commands.
Every label is made up of various fields. A form is the complete
set of commands that define the content and the design of the
label. A form can be saved in memory and retrieved as required.
Use any ASCII output device with a parallel or serial port and a
text editor to design the form and program the printer.
Communication is based on the ASCII characters 10 decimal
and 32-255 decimal.
The command syntax is based on upper and lower case
characters, numeric characters, commas (as separators), quotation
marks and line feeds (LF; ASCII 10 decimal). The LF in this
manual is shown as
descriptions. Line Feeds (LF) are required to be sent at the end of
most command lines. Some commands require both a carriage
return and a line feed (<CR/LF>).
Note: All programming examples in this manuals start with a
Line Feed (LF), shown as
sequence of command lines with a Line Feed.
