FUEL TANK REMOVAL

WARNING
Always wear safety goggles when working with high
pressure or flammable fluids. Failure to do so could
result in serious injury or complications.
1. Remove the driver and passenger seat base and
storage bins.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the
battery, located under the passenger seat.
3. Remove the main floor (see Chapter 5).
NOTE
Syphon as much fuel from the tank as possible before
attempting to remove it from the vehicle.
4. While holding a shop towel over the fuel line
connectors, disconnect the fuel line (A) from the fuel
pump (see "Fuel Line Removal / Installation").
NOTE
A small amount of fuel may come out of the fuel lines or
pump fitting. Properly drain fuel into a suitable
container.
5. Remove the fuel tank vent line (B) from the tank
fitting.
6. Disconnect the fuel pump electrical harness (C).

FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL
7. Remove the (2) fuel tank bracket fasteners that
retain the fuel tank in the chassis. Swing the tank
brackets clear of the fuel tank for removal.
8. Remove the (3) plastic ties retaining the main wire
harness to the fuel tank.
9. Slide the fuel tank toward front of vehicle and remove
the tank from vehicle.
