FUEL TANK REMOVAL

WARNING
Fuel is extremely flammable and may cause severe
burns, injury, or death.
Do not use any device that produces a flame or
electrical devices that may spark around fuel or fuel
vapors.
1. Lift the rear cargo box
2. Remove the seat from the vehicle.
3. Disconnect the negative (-), and then positive (+)
battery cables from the battery.
4. While holding a shop towel over the fuel line
connector, disconnect the quick connect fuel line from
q
the fuel pump
. Move the fuel line out of the way for
tank removal.
NOTICE
A small amount of fuel may come out of the fuel line or
tank. Properly drain fuel into a suitable container.
5. Disconnect the fuel pump electrical harness
6. Remove the fuel vent line from the tank vent fitting.
7. Remove the fuel cap, push rivets and screws
retaining the RH fender panel and remove panel from
the vehicle. See Floor / Rear Fenders page 11.9.
