Overview

General Information
The following table lists which interlocks are considered optional or mandatory for ExacTrac
Varian TrueBeam linacs, depending on the robotics configuration. Warning lights are considered a
status signal. Detailed descriptions can be found in subsequent chapters.
NOTE: For installations in France, the French Nuclear Authority requires an additional indicator
light to show that the generator is powered.

• EXT=EXTERNAL: You are responsible for building installation. For specifications see
subsequent chapters marked with "EXT".
• Linac: Signals and interlocks are available directly from a linac interface. For specifications see
subsequent chapters marked with "Linac".

• (1) Linac 3rd Party Interface:
Some linacs (depending on the model and age) offer a 3rd party interface that ExacTrac can use
to read, and sometimes to write status signals and interlocks.
For Varian TrueBeam linacs:
• For all TrueBeams v.≥ 1.5, the TrueBeam 3rd party motion interface is available.
NOTE: The Varian 3rd party motion interface is called "Interface Board". The interface cable 8a to
Brainlab ExacTrac (1.0) is connected to plug'J15' and Varian cable '5W88' inside the linac (0.0).
• (2) ExacTrac EMO definitions (Emergency-Off versus Emergency-Stop)
The ExacTrac system can be installed in different Emergency-Off configurations, depending on
local regulatory requirements and the purchased product features (system configuration).
Usually, the signal is generally called "Emergency-Off" or "EMO". When differing between
emergency OFF and STOP, the ExacTrac computer cabinet only provides and requires the
Emergency-STOP functionality, see page 82.
