User test
Requirements
3RW51 soft starter is in a fault-free condition.
Procedure
Depending on how long the RESET / TEST keys are held pressed, the following tests are
performed in the specified sequence. Thus, if the key is held pressed for longer than 5 s, all
3 tests are performed:
Operating time
0.15 s ... 2 s
2 s ... 5 s
> 5 s
You can also start the user test via the "Diagnosis > Self-test" menu of the 3RW5 HMI High Feature.
Here the user test is run through completely.
Note
To avoid faults, perform the tests with the motor switched off.
If the 3RW51 soft starter does not respond as shown in the tables during the function test,
check the connections and the supply to the 3RW51 soft starter. If the fault persists even
though the connections are correct, the device must be replaced.

Explanation
LED test
All 6 LEDs are activated.
Current detection test
Current measuring is tested in all 3 phases.
Motor overload protection test
The entire control circuit is tested, including the contact blocks and the
error signaling output.
If the device responds as intended, tripping on overload occurs. This
can be reset immediately without a cooling time by pressing the
TEST / RESET key again.
