5-5 Milling Cutter Replacement

If the milling cutter does not cut the spine properly, the
glue will not be evenly applied to the book spine and
the spine quality will suffer. The milling cutter may be
worn, and may need to be replaced.
CAUTION
- When loosening the mounting screws of the
milling cutter, turn off the power switch. Oth-
erwise, the machine may start suddenly and
cause severe personal injury.
- Wear thick gloves during this operation, and
do not touch the edges of the milling or
roughening cutters. Otherwise, the sharp cut-
ters can cause severe personal injury.
- The melt tank is very hot for a while after the
power is turned off. Do not touch the tank.
Turn off the power switch and
remove the milling section front
cover.
- Remove the four mounting screws shown in
the illustration below.

Remove the milling section safety
cover.
- Remove the four mounting screws shown in
the illustration below.
- Be careful not to drop the screws.
- After removing the covers, turn on the power
switch.

Enter a book block thickness of 20
mm (0.8") on the Book Block Size
Screen and perform the
changeover.
The mounting screws on the milling
guide will be removed in a later step.
Press the
Release) on the Milling Brake
Release Screen.
Open the left safety cover.
Press the brake release button on
the frame.
