6-1 Problems with Booklet Quality
Problems with the Booklet Spine
Condition
The spine of the booklet is
dented.
One edge of the spine is dented.
The spine of the booklet is wrin-
kled (especially, a thick booklet).
The spine of the booklet is too
sharp.
Booklet spine is rounded.
The sharpness of the spine is
different at the top and bottom.
The rear spine is too round and
the front spine is too sharp.
Cause
There is a lump of glue
on the nipping mecha-
nism.
There is a lump of the
glue on the delivery
mechanism.
The carriage clamp
opening is too narrow.
When the booklet falls
down to the delivery
section, the booklet
falls down at a tilt.
The nipping delay time
is too short.
The nipping mode with
milling is selected.
The nipper height is
too high.
The nipping time is too
long.
The nipping mode with
milling is selected.
The nipping mode
without milling is
selected.
The nipper height is
too low.
The nipping time is too
short.
The nipper width is too
wide.
Too much spine glue is
applied.
The nipper is inclined
to the right or left.
The rotation of the mill-
ing cutter is opposite.

Remedy
Clean the nipping section.
Clean the delivery section
Make the carriage clamp
opening amount larger.
Increase the nipping
delay time.
Select nipping without
milling.
Lower the nipper height.
Make the nipping time
shorter.
Select nipping without
milling.
Select nipping with mill-
ing.
Increase the nipper
height.
Make the nipping time
longer.
Make the nipper width
narrower.
Decrease the spine glue
amount.
Adjust the nipper angle.
Switch two black cabels
out of three which supply
the power to the machine.
