6-1 Problems with Booklet Quality
Problems with the Cover Sheets
Condition
The cover sheet is wrinkled.
The cover sheet is applied diag-
onally.
The cover sheet is shifted paral-
lel to the book block toward the
fore-edge.
The cover sheet is shifted paral-
lel to the book block in the top-
bottom direction.
The position of the cover sheet
changes.
The cover sheet is not glued to
the book block spine.
The cover is not fed.
Cause
The pressure from the transport
belts is too strong.
The registration stopper is out of
position.
The cover sheet is not cut at the
correct angle.
The cover sheet is not trans-
ported to the registration stop-
per.
Jog guides interrupts the cover
sheet moving back to the regis-
tration stopper.
The jog guides on the nipper are
not set correctly.
The scoring position is not cor-
rect.
Cover sheet detect sensor is
stained.
The registration stopper position
is not correct.
Upper cover guide hits the regis-
tration stopper.
The pressure from the transport
belts is too strong, or too weak.
The transport belts are stained.
A transport belt is missing.
The jog guide width on the nip-
per is too wide, or too narrow.
The positioning guide width is
too wide, or too narrow.
Transport belt is worn.
The production speed is too
slow.
The glue temperature is too low.
The glue which is being used
hardens too quickly.
The nipping delay time is too
long.
Breaker of the cover feed blower
is tripped.

Remedy
Make the pressure from the trans-
port belts weaker.
Adjust the angle of the registration
stopper.
Use cover sheets which have been
correctly trimmed.
Increase the amount to transport the
cover sheet backward.
Select [Guide Open] at the Informa-
tion screen.
Adjust the positions of the jog
guides.
Adjust the position of the scoring
roller.
Clean the sensor.
Adjust the position of the registration
stopper.
Make some space between the
upper cover guide and registration
stopper.
Adjust the pressure from the trans-
port belts.
Wipe the transport belts using a dry
cloth.
Install the missing transport belt.
Adjust the jog guide width.
Adjust the positioning guide width.
Replace with spare belts.
Increase the production speed.
Increase the glue temperature using
the glue temperature adjusting
knob.
Use the correct glue or talk to the
dealer.
Decrease the nipping delay time.
Check if the breaker is not tripped. If
the breaker trips repeatedly, please
call your local dealer.
