3-6 Setting the Scraper (For Padding Only)

Set the scraper manually if you select padding. The
scraper levels the glue even.
CAUTION
- The set position differs depending on
the spine glue thickness set on the
screen. Select
Gluing Screen Part 1, and raise the
scraper gradually checking the glue
scraping condition. Do not raise the
scraper too much, otherwise the
scraper hits the booklet and be dam-
aged.
- Scraper is very hot. Wear thick gloves
when setting the scraper.
Press
on the Gluing Screen
Part 2 and set the glue thickness to
1.0 mm.
Open the safety cover (right).
Find the lowest position where the
scraper can level the glue even by
repeating the test padding.

[How to adjust]
- Loosen the lock screw using the wrench, and
move the scraper holding the lever.
- First begin at the lower position. Raise it grad-
ually.
- Tighten the lock screw after adjustment.
If the spine glue thickness is set to
1.2mm, and when the scraper hits the
stopper, glue will be actually left a little
on the spine after scraping. (It differs
depending on each machine or other
settings.)
Set the desired glue thickness on
the Gluing Screen Part 2.

CAUTION
- When performing the binding with
cover sheets, make sure to reposition
the scraper at lowest position. Other-
wise, the scraper hits the booklet and
be damaged.
- If the glue is burned, the scraper can
not be smoothly adjusted. Make sure to
wipe off the extra glue on the scraper
after the operation, so that it can be
adjusted in anytime.
