FUNCTIONING
Engine
q ( ): Always contact the Komatsu distributor when you must carry out these operations.
q If the anomaly or its cause is not included in the table below, contact your Komatsu distributor for the
necessary repair.
TROUBLE
Engine oil pressure warning light
comes on.
Steam comes out of radiator
(pressure valve).
The engine water temperature
indicator enters the red area.
Engine does not start with starter
running.
Exhaust gases white or light blue.
Exhaust gases occasionally become
black.
Combustion noise occasionally
resembles a blow.

CAUSE
q Oil level in oil pan too low (air
sucked in).
q Oil filter cartridge clogged.
q Faulty tightening of oil pipe or
pipe coupling, oil leakage from a
defective point.
q Faulty pressure sensor.
q Faulty monitor.
q Engine coolant level low, coolant
leakage.
q Fan belt slack.
q Mud or limestone accumulated in
cooling system.
q Radiator fins damaged or closed.
q Faulty thermostat.
q Radiator cap loose
(work at considerable heights)
q Faulty monitor.
q Fuel level too low.
q Air in the fuel system.
q Pump or fuel injection nozzle
faulty.
q Starter makes engine run slowly.
q Preheating warning light does not
come on.
q Faulty compression.
(Excessive valve clearance).
q Too much oil in oil pan.
q Unsuitable fuel.
q Quick acceleration soon after
cold start of the engine.
q Air filter clogged.
q Faulty nozzle.
q Faulty compression.
q Faulty turbocompressor.
