FUNCTIONING
Warming the engine
NOTICE
q Do not accelerate the engine abruptly until warming operations have finished.
q Do not accelerate abruptly before completing the warming-up operations. Do not let the engine run at
low idling or high idling speed for more than 20 minutes without interruption. If it is necessary to let
the engine idle, accelerate every now and then or increase the speed up to an intermediate value.
Do not use the machine immediately after starting the engine. First, perform the operations and checks below.
1. This machine is fitted with an automatic engine warming system, therefore, if the engine water temperature is
below 30 °C after starting the engine, engine warming begins automatically. When the automatic engine
warming starts, the engine speed is kept higher than the low idle.
If the engine water temperature goes over 30 °C or warming continues for another 10 minutes, the automatic
warming is cancelled and the engine speed decreases to the regular low idle speed.
2. Check that the temperature warning light of the engine
coolant (1) indicates the correct temperature.
If the temperature read is low, follow the procedure in point
3 to further warm the engine until the warning light signals
the correct temperature.
(A) Correct temperature: blue bottom of warning light (C)
(B) Low temperature: white bottom of warning light (C)
3. Turn the fuel grip (2) halfway between the low idle (MIN)
and the maximum (MAX) speed, cause the engine to run
unloaded at average speed until the temperature warning
light of the coolant (1) displays the correct temperature.
