Medicine can affect your health. If it is hard for you to take your medicine, or if you are not taking
your medicine as ordered, you may begin to feel worse. Some medicines have serious side effects
when taken the wrong way or skipped. Contact your health care provider if it is hard to take your
medicine or you have questions about your medicine.
Blood sugar may be affected for many reasons. Diet, weight, medicines, activity, sickness, and
infections affect blood sugar levels. Uncontrolled blood sugar can lead to health issues. If you've
taken your medicine as ordered and have followed your diet, and your blood sugar is still not
controlled, changes to your medicine may be needed. Report any symptoms of high or low blood
sugar to your health care provider.
There are many reasons people get a headache. Headaches may be related to higher blood
pressure. This is called hypertension. Diet, weight, exercise, and medicines are used to treat high
blood pressure. If you have a headache that does not go away, contact your health care provider.
Your ankles may swell with heart and lung issues. Increased swelling may occur with changes in
diet, medicines, or activity. Limit the salt you eat and elevate your feet to help. If your swelling or
breathing gets worse, or you get a cough, contact your health care provider.
Having a hard time when you walk or stand may be caused by medicine, weakness, or other
reasons. Difficulty standing or walking could also be a change in your health. This may increase
your risk for falling. If you are having a hard time standing or walking, contact your health care
provider.
Feeling dizzy can be caused by a number of health conditions. Changes in blood pressure, heart
rate, or blood sugar can cause dizziness. Some medicine can also make you feel dizzy. Feeling
dizzy, having a headache, or changes in your vision may mean a more serious health issue. If you
have these symptoms contact your health care provider.
A new cough may be a sign of a change in your health. If your cough does not get better, or if you
have a harder time breathing, contact your health care provider.
Falls can cause serious injuries. Medicine, pain, or weakness can cause falls. Changes in heart
rate or blood pressure, or having an accident can also cause falls. Even if it seems like you didn't
hurt yourself, report any falls to your health care provider.
