Common Monitor Settings and Behaviors
Use the following chart to help resolve common questions related to monitor set-
tings or behavior:
Question
The sound is too loud or too quiet
when the patient is taking vital signs.
How can I adjust this?
The screen is too dim, or too bright.
How can I adjust this?
The Education and/or Video button do
not appear on the Vital Signs/Home
screen.
The Video button appears, but it is
grey in color and not usable.
Where do I find questions that have
education associated with them?
If the monitor is set up to transmit via
Wi-Fi, why does it transmit vitals data
over the cellular data plan?
Questions are being read multiple
times; And/or the monitor exhibits odd
behavior when speech is utilized on
the Genesis Touch?
Are all Genesis Touch monitors eligible
to upgrade their Android Operating
System?

Answer
To adjust screen brightness and/or volume, access the
Settings menu from the Vitals Now / Home screen, and press
the Brightness and Volume button. Make adjustments as
needed, and press the Back button, followed by the Home
button to return to the Vitals Now / Home screen.
For everyday volume adjustment, there is also a Volume
button next to the Power button on the monitor. Use this
button to adjust volume while taking vital signs.
Follow the instructions in this section to check that Do Not
Disturb is turned OFF.
Make sure All Education has been selected from the
Advanced menu. If the care provider has not chosen
questions with educational information for the patient, the
Education button will not appear on the screen. Likewise for
video, the Display Video Button must be selected in the Video
section of the Advanced menu.
If the care provider has not set up video for the patient by
entering a meeting identifier, the Video button will appear
grey. Instructions for enabling video are available from the
support site provided in the cover of this document.
These questions are labeled "(With Education)" in the
numeric questions list, from the Questions menu. LifeStream
displays all compatible questions with education, when
configuring a monitor remotely. Consult the Questions List,
from the support site provided in the cover of this document.

If the monitor is set up to transmit over Wi-Fi but either loses
or cannot establish a connection with Wi-Fi, the monitor will
transmit vitals over the cell service.
Check that the monitor serial number begins with A2 or A3.
Access the Genesis Touch manuals website. Select the link
to upgrade, select your monitor type and download upgrade
instructions. Follow the steps to configure text-to-speech
settings by testing each language selection on the monitor.
Contact Customer Service for additional assistance.
Monitors beginning with serial number of A2 may upgrade
from Android v4.4.4 to Android v5.1. Monitors beginning with
serial number A3 may upgrade from Android 6 to 7.1.
Monitors with a serial number beginning with A5, come with
Android 8.1 pre-installed.
Operating System Upgrades are tested by Life Care
Solutions, and a notice to upgrade will be sent when the
operating system has been checked for compatibility.
