Symptom:
OUTSIDE AIR TEMP MESSAGE MISSING (ACTIVE)
When Monitored and Set Condition:
OUTSIDE AIR TEMP MESSAGE MISSING (ACTIVE)
When Monitored: With the ignition on and the IOD fuse installed.
Set Condition: This DTC will set if the Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) does not
receive the Outside Air Temperature message from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
for more than 5 seconds.
NO COMMUNICATION WITH PCM DTC SET
POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) DTC(S) PRESENT
AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL (ATC)
POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)
TEST
1
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , read the active ATC DTCs.
Does the DRBIII display: NO COMMUNICATION WITH PCM?
Yes → Return to the Heating & A/C symptom list and choose the
→ Go To 2
No

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , read PCM DTCs.
Does the DRBIII display any DTCs?
Yes → Refer to the Powertrain Diagnostic Information for the related
→ Go To 3
No

Turn the ignition on.
With DRBIII in ATC, Monitor Display, PCI Bus Messages, look for the following
message:
OUTSIDE AIR TEMP:
Is NO RESPONSE displayed after this message?
Yes → Replace the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) in accordance with
→ Replace the Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) in accordance
