Symptom:
PCM MESSAGES NOT RECEIVED
When Monitored and Set Condition:
PCM MESSAGES NOT RECEIVED
When Monitored: When the Navigation Unit is powered up.
Set Condition: If the Vehicle Speed message is not received, the NAV system will have the
vehicle icon remain stationary. If no vehicle speed message is received for 2 seconds and the
vehicle is in Drive, full programming will be disabled.
DTC INTERMITTENT CONDITION
PCM DTC PRESENT
NAVIGATION UNIT
TEST

With the DRBIII , erase DTCs.
Cycle the ignition switch from on to off and then back to on..
Turn the Navigation System on and try to select a location.
With the DRBIII , read DTCs.
Does the DRBIII display PCM MESSAGES NOT RECEIVED?
→ The condition is not present at this time. Monitor DRBIII
No
Yes → Go To 2

NOTE: Diagnose and repair any PCM DTCs present before proceeding with
this test.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII monitor the Vehicle Speed while moving the vehicle.
Does the DRBIII display Vehicle Speed correctly?
Yes → With the DRBIII , erase DTCs. Turn the ignition off, wait 10
→ Refer to DRIVEABILITY for the related symptom(s).
No
POSSIBLE CAUSES
ACTION
parameters while wiggling the related wire harness. Refer to any
Technical Service bulletins (TSB) that may apply. Visually inspect
the related wiring harness and connector terminals.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
seconds, then turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII , read DTCs.
If this code resets, replace the Navigation Unit in accordance with
the Service Information.
