5. Install the new thermal cut-off switch.
a) Pass the bulb and winding of the new thermal cut-off switch through the opening on the tank lid.
b) Secure the top of the thermal cut-off switch to the tank lid using two sets of screws and hex nuts.
The screws pass through the bottom of the lid, to the top. Secure the screws with the hex nuts.
c) Secure the bulb of the thermal cut-off switch to the heater element using a metal clamp.
i. The bulb of the thermal cut-off switch must be installed about one third of the way down onto the heater
element and the winding of the thermal cut-off switch must be below the water line when the tank is full.
d) Connect the thermal cut-off switch wire with the white terminal cover to the heater element.
