23.POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM

Operate your instrument with the following combinations of power equipment.
An appropriate prism for Auto Pointing and Auto Tracking measurement: "10. TARGET SIGHTING AND
MEASUREMENT  Appropriate prism for Auto Pointing and Auto Tracking"
• When using an external battery, mount the BDC70 in place to maintain the balance of the instrument.
• Never use any combination other than those indicated below. If you do, the instrument could be damaged.
Those indicated by * are standard accessories. Others are optional accessories.

• Dedicated power cables differ according to the country or the area where the instrument is used. Contact your
local dealer for the details.
• By using the Y cable (EDC211) the instrument can perform RS232C communication (D-sub 9-pin) at the
same time as connecting to an external power source.
External power supply equipment
• Use an external battery (BDC60A/61A) with the charged standard battery (BDC70) to fulfill the sufficient
operating time and to maintain the balance of the instrument.
• When using the Car cigarette lighter cable (EDC115), leave the car engine running. Use the 12 V DC battery
with the negative side grounded.
• When using the Power cable (EDC213), be sure to stop the car engine before use. Connect the red clip to
the positive side of the 12 V DC battery and the black one to the negative side.
