TROUBLESHOOTING AND RECTIFICATION
Functional fault
Insuffi cient product output Nozzle too small.
Poor spray pattern
Valve rod leaks
Poor wrap-around
Back-spray
No wrap-around

Cause
Product pressure too low.
Gun fi lter or high pressure fi lter clogged
at pump.
Nozzle is clogged.
Atomizing air incorrectly adjusted.
Nozzle is too large.
Product pressure too low.
The product viscosity is too high.
Seals at the valve rod are damaged.
Loose packing
Insuffi cient grounding.
Inadequate electric resistance of the
lacquer.
Spraying pressure too high.
No grounding
Distance between spray gun and work
piece too large.
Nozzle nut placed too far forward
High-voltage switched off .
No electrostatics.
Remedy
Select larger nozzle
(see nozzle table 12.2 und 12.3).
Increase product pressure.
Clean or replace fi lter.
Nozzle cleaning
(see Chapters 7.3.3 to 7.3.8).
Readjust the atomizing air.
Select a smaller nozzle
(see nozzle table).
Increase the product pressure at
pump.
Thin product in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions.
Replace the seals (see Chapter 8).
Tighten
Check grounding.
Check lacquer resistance
(see Chapter 2.5).
Readjust spraying pressure.
Check grounding.
Reduce distance between spray gun
and work piece.
Move nozzle nut back
(Decrease air distributor ring gap).
Switch on the high-voltage switch.
Repair malfunction as laid down
in the control unit operating
instructions.
