9.2. Approaching the Sample and Focusing the Laser
Beam
Confocal scanning needs the sample to be at the focal plane of the lens. To place the
sample at the required position, perform the following steps:
1. Reduce intensity of the beam on exit of the spectrometer as follows:
a. Go to the
Spectra
Panel.
b. Go to the
Renishaw CCD
the
tab.
Spectra
c. In the
Laser power
the spectrometer (Fig. 9-2).

2. Place the lens Z-scanner in the middle of the scan range:
a. Click the
screen.
b. Move the slider to its middle position (Fig. 9-3).
