NTEGRA Therma Probe NanoLaboratory. Instruction Manual
6. Preparation for Operation
Preparation and operation procedures for NTEGRA Therma include the following basic
operations:
1. Sample Installation (see i.
2. Probe Installation (see i.
3. Registration Head Installation (see i.
4. Preparation of the Optical Viewing System for Operation (see i.
5. Adjustment of the Optical System for Detecting Cantilever Deflections
(see i.

on page 31).
6. Selecting Region to Scan (see i.
A detailed description of these procedures is given below.
6.1. Sample Installation
To install a sample complete the following operations:
1. Loosen the screws which fix the temperature chamber cover (see Fig. 6-1).
2. Use the tweezers to turn the cover counter-clockwise until its openings coincide with
the clamping devices in the corners of the chamber and then remove the cover.
3. Glue the sample to the substrate using a layer of glue not more than several microns
thick so that it is fixed only in the center of the substrate, since differences in the
thermal expansion coefficients of the sample and the substrate could result in additional
thermal drift during heating and could even cause the sample to come off the substrate.
NOTE. The glue shall withstand heating up to working temperature.
