Fitting the Hydraulic Pump Drive Gear

(Disassembly operation 48.)
1. Insert the gear driving the hydraulic pumps (2)
into the seat.
2. Tighten the bolts (1).

Fitting the Timing Gear Casing

(Disassembly operation 46.)
1. Carefully clean the timing gear box (1) and the
crankcase.
Cleaning the surface to seal is both necessary
and unavoidable in order to obtain an effective
seal. Apply LOCTITE 5999 sealant onto the box
to form a bead with a diameter of a few mm as
shown in fig. 147. It must be uniform (no lumps),
with no air bubbles, thin areas or breaks.
Any flaws must be corrected in as short a time as
possible.
Avoid using excess material to seal the joint.
Too much sealant would tend to come out on both
sides of the joint and clog the lubricant passage-
ways.
After applying the sealant, the joints require im-
mediate assembly (10 -- 20 minutes).
2. Refit the box (1) to the crankcase.
3. Tighten the retaining bolts (2) in the position
found during disassembly.
