Decarbonizing, Checking and Grinding Valves
Remove all carbon deposits from the valves (2) using
a wire brush (1).
Check that the valves show no signs of seizure,
cracking or burning.
If necessary, grind the bevels on the valve heads us-
ing a grinding machine, removing as little material as
possible.
Using a micrometer (2) measure the valve stem (1)
and check it comes within the range of tolerance giv-
en on page 9.
