clearly have an incorrect postcode so that these may be fixed using the ID screen.
Directions
1. Access the Additional Registration Utilities menu, display the menu page
showing the Patient Count by Postcode Outcodes option and enter the
relevant option number.
2. In the Enter Outcode OR Email or 'Q'uit field, enter either:
• an email address;
• a postcode outcode; or
• Q to quit the utility.
3. Press Enter.
Running the Utility Using an Email Address
If you enter an email address, the system will display Downloading... while the utility
checks the database for patients registered with a real, (i.e. non-dummy) GP. Patients
are counted by their postcode outcode.

Patient Count by Postcode, Using an Email Address
Once the utility has finished compiling the information – which may take time to
complete – it will email the results to the address you specified.
This email will come from the address cipher.OUTPOST@hscic.gov.uk and will
contain an attachment with a filename similar to:
• cipherOUTCODEccyymmdd_hhmm.txt
where cipher is your system cipher, and ccyymmdd_hhmm is a date and time stamp.
The file will contain counts of patients by postcode outcode (records are comma-
delimited). An example of a file might be:
