Configuring the FCoE SAN and Presenting the Storage Arrays to the
Management Host
Configuring the FCoE SAN and Presenting the Storage
Arrays to the Management Host
You must configure the SAN zoning in the switches to allow the storage LUNs from the Nimble Storage array
to be presented to and seen by the management servers.

Zoning the Nimble Storage to the Management Servers

The virtual Fibre Channel (vFC) interfaces must be configured for each management server, and the zoning
configuration must be created for the Nimble Storage array connections to the management servers.

Create and Configure the vFC Interfaces for the Management Servers

Procedure
1 Log in to <<net_switch1_mgmt_ip>> through SSH.
2 From system-view, run the following commands to create the vFC for the first management server's LOM
1 port and associate it with FCoE VSAN A.
interface vfc 711
description <<mgmt_server_1_hostname>>-LOM1
port trunk vsan <<net_fcoe_vsan_a_id>>
bind interface Ten-GigabitEthernet 1/2/17
quit
Note
You can use any vfc identifier in the range of 1 to 1024. The vFC IDs in the example code are the
ones that were used in this verified configuration.
3 Create the vFC for the first management server's LOM 2 port and associate it with FCoE VSAN B.
interface vfc 712
description <<mgmt_server_1_hostname>>-LOM2
port trunk vsan <<net_fcoe_vsan_b_id>>
bind interface Ten-GigabitEthernet 2/2/17
quit
4 Repeat this procedure for the other management servers in the configuration.
Ensure that you use unique vFC identifiers for each connection.

Create the Alias for the Nimble Storage Array and Management Systems

There are several ways to gather the data needed to create the alias for the Nimble Storage array and the
management systems. The easiest way is to get them directly from the switches themselves. The display
fc login vsan <<net_fcoe_vsan_a_id>> command displays all port WWNs that are logged in to the fabric.
By executing fc --list on the Nimble Storage array, you can identify which port WWN matches which controller
and port name.
