Configure the Second Hard Drive

Configure the Second Hard Drive
Procedure
1 Log back in to the VM.
2 From Server Manager, select Dashboard and then Tools > Computer Management.
3 Expand Storage and click Disk Management.
4 Right-click Disk 1 and click Online.
5 Right-click Disk 1 and click Initialize Disk. In the Initialize Disk dialog box, click OK.
6 Right-click the unallocated disk space and click New Simple Volume.
7 Click Next on the welcome page.
8 In the Specify Volume Size window, ensure that the Simple Volume size in MB is set to the Maximum disk
space in MB and click Next.
9 Ensure that the Assign the following drive letter option is selected and click Next in the Assign Drive
Letter or Path window.
10 In the Format Partition window, click Format this volume with the following settings and enter the
following information:
• File System: NTFS.
• Allocation unit size: Default.
• Volume Label: Media.
11 Select Perform a quick format and ensure that Enable file and folder compression is not selected.
12 Click Next and then Finish.

Set Host Name

Procedure
1 Open Server Manager, and click Local Server.
2 Click the link to the right of Computer name in Server Manager.
3 Click Change.
4 Enter the value of <<mgmt_vm_hostname>>.
5 Click More.
6 Enter the value of <<mgmt_net_domain_name>> and click OK.
7 Close the window and click Restart Later.

Set IP Addresses

Procedure
1 Right-click the Windows icon and click Network Connections.
2 Identify which Ethernet adapter on the VM is connected to the management network.
You can do this by comparing the MAC address of each NIC on the VM with the adapters in vCenter.
3 Right-click the adapter with the MAC address on the Management network and click Rename.
4 Enter Management Net and press Enter.
5 Right-click the other adapter and click Rename.
6 Enter Deployment Net and press Enter.
7 Right-click the Management Net adapter and click Properties.
8 Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), click Properties, and set a static IP address with the
information from the Configuration Worksheet for the <<mgmt_vm_mgmt_ip>> with the other appropriate
information for the Management Network.
9 Right-click the Deployment Net adapter and click Properties.
