Building the Management VM

2 Connect to the first management server's HPE iLO and navigate to Information > System Information >
Network.
Note
The MAC address for the HPE iLO can be found in the Adapter 1 – iLO section. It is referred to as
<<mac_address>> in this procedure.
3 Select Hosts in the left pane, and select <<mgmt_server_1_fqdn>>.
4 Navigate to Manage > Settings > System > Power Management.
5 To the right of IPMI/iLO Settings for Power Management, click Edit.
6 In the dialog box, provide the following information and then click OK:
User name: admin
Password: <<mgmt_server_ilo_password>>.
BMC IP address: <<mgmt_server_1_ilo_ip>>.
BMC MAC address: <<mac_address>>.
7 Repeat this procedure for the other management servers in the configuration.
Building the Management VM
To build the Management VM needed to manage this solution, you must complete the following procedures:
Deploy the base Windows VM.
Install the VMware tools.
Enable the Desktop Experience role.
Configure the second hard drive.
Set the hostname.
Set the IP addresses.
Disable the firewall.
Enable remote desktop access.
Configure NTP.
Run updates and software installations.
Configure the IIS and ICsp media server.

Deploy Base Windows VM

Procedure
1 From the Home page of the vSphere Web Client, click Host and Clusters.
2 Expand <<vcenter_dc_name>>, right-click <<vcenter_mgmt_cluster_name>> and click New Virtual
Machine.
3 Build a VSC VM with these specifications:
16 GB of RAM
Two virtual disks:
One for Windows boot (suggested 100 GB)
One for the ICsp media server (suggested 200 GB)
Four CPUs
Two cores per socket
Two virtual network interfaces:
One in the <<mgmt_net_vlan>> VLAN
A second in the <<deployment_net_vlan>> , if used
A VMXNET 3 adapter for the virtual network interfaces
