4. Operating procedures
Each mode has different operating procedures and displays from the
other mode.
A. Normal mode
While pressing and holding the MENU key and the ENTER (SET) key
together, turn on the power switch, and the machine will enter the
normal mode.
In the normal mode, "PCU DIAG MODE XX" is displayed.
To cancel the normal diagnostics mode and return to the normal print
mode, use the MENU key to return to the home menu (PCU DIAG
MODE #), and press the FORM FEED (PAPER EXIT) key.
B. Special mode
First enter the normal mode. Then press the LINE (ONLINE) key and
the ENTER (SET) key simultaneously, and the machine will enter the
special mode.
In the special mode, "PCU DIAG SPECIAL" is displayed.
Use the MENU key, v key, and w key to select the desired item.
To execute the desired item, press the FORM FEED (PAPER EXIT)
key.
To set or initialize the counter values and set values, turn on the
manual paper feed detector (HFIN (PDDI)) manually and press the
FORM FEED (PAPER EXIT) key.
To stop the diagnostics operation, press the RESET key.
To cancel the special mode and return to the normal mode, use the
MENU key to return to the home position (PCU DIAG MODE SPE-
CIAL display), then press the FORM FEED (PAPER EXIT) key. The
machine will return to the normal mode with "PCU DIAG MODE #"
displayed. Then press the FORM FEED (PAPER EXIT) key again to
return to the normal print mode.

A. Normal diagnostics mode
(1) PCU ROM version display

When the machine enters the PCU diagnostics mode (home posi-
tion), the PCU ROM version is displayed.
In "PCU DIAG MODE #" display, the PCU ROM version is displayed
at "#." Under this state, pressing the FORM FEED (PAPER EXIT)
key returns to the normal print mode.
Press the MENU key to go to the next menu.
(2) Sensors/detectors operation check
a. Menu display

Use v key or w key to select a sensor/detector to be checked, and
press the FORM FEED (PAPER EXIT) key to execute checking.
The operating state of the sensor/detector can be monitored with
LED.
When the sensor/detector becomes active, the LED lights up.
To perform diagnostics, press the FORM FEED (PAPER EXIT) key.
To cancel diagnostics, press the RESET key.
To go to the next menu, press the MANU key while the diagnostics
operation is halted.
