ADJ 2.2: Printhead Gap
Adjustment
Use this procedure to check and adjust the gap
between the printhead and the exit guide.
7. Remove the printhead from the carrier
assembly. Insert the Head Gap Adjustment
tool into the carrier. Position as shown in
Figure 4-51, with the angled edge towards the
paper path, and the holes at the bottom.

8. With the tool in the carrier, lock into position.
Make sure the two holes line up with the two
tabs at the bottom of the carrier. The upper
tab on the carrier should press against the
tool. See Figure 4-52.

9. CAREFULLY move the carriage left and right by pushing ONLY on the sides
of the carriage. Do not push the carriage toward the rear of the WorkCentre.
10. As you move the carriage left and right, the head gap tool should just barely touch
the ribs on the eject roller assembly.
11. If the gap needs adjustment, rotate the carriage drive bushing on
either side of the carriage shaft to move the head closer or farther from the rib.
12. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the head gap is within tolerances.
