Overview of the symbolic configuration of I/Os

Overview
SIMOTION D410-2 as well as the SINAMICS S110/S120 control units and additional
components (TMs) have I/Os that can be used by the drive unit and by SIMOTION.
I/Os originally assigned to SINAMICS can be used by SIMOTION only when they have been
interconnected to a message frame.
Symbolic assignment
SIMOTION SCOUT supports by default the symbolic configuration of I/Os, see Section
Symbolic assignment / adaptation (Page 139).
The symbolic assignment simplifies the configuration significantly:

Only the configuration with symbolic assignment is described in the following. For further
information on the configuration of drive-related I/Os without symbolic assignment, see
Appendix Configuring drive-related I/Os (without symbolic assignment) (Page 317).

With symbolic assignment
So that SIMOTION can use SINAMICS I/Os,
the required message frames are created au‐
tomatically
The required BICO interconnections are per‐
formed automatically (I/Os are interconnec‐
ted to a message frame)
Parameterization via screen forms
cause of symbolic assignment
Addresses are set up automatically, refer al‐
so to Section Setting up communication for
symbolic assignment (Page 195)
Without symbolic assignment
Message frames must be set manually (either
predefined message frame (e.g. 39x) or free
message frame configuration)
With predefined message frames (e.g. 39x), the
BICO interconnections are made automatically
With free message frame configuration with BI‐
CO, the interconnection must be made by the
user
Parameterization via screen forms and partly via
parameters in the expert list
I/O addresses must be determined
Addresses must be set up manually, refer also
to Section Message frame configuration
