Troubleshooting
No sound is heard
from the surround
back speakers.
The audio input
sources cannot be
played in the desired
digital audio signal
format (Desired input
source indicator or
decoder indicator in
the front panel
display does not light
up).
A humming sound is
heard.
The volume level is
low while a record is
being played.
The volume level
cannot be increased,
or the sound is
distorted.
The sound effect
cannot be recorded.
A source cannot be
recorded by a digital
recording component
connected to the
DIGITAL OUTPUT
jack.
A source cannot be
recorded by an analog
component connected
to the AUDIO OUT
(REC) jacks.
The sound field
parameters and some
other settings of this
unit cannot be
changed.
This unit does not
operate properly.
"CHECK SP WIRES"
appears in the front
panel display.
"SUR. L/R SP" in "SET MENU" is set to
"NONE" and "SUR.S L/R SP" is
automatically set to "NONE".
"SUR.S L/R SP" in "SET MENU" is set
to "NONE".
The connected component is not set to
output the desired digital audio signals.
Audio input jack select is set to
"ANALOG".
Incorrect cahle connections.
No connection from the turntahle to the
GND terminal.
The record is heing played on a turntahle
with an 1\1C cartridge.
The component connected to the AUDIO
OUT (REC) jacks of this unit is turned
off.
It is not possible to record the sound effect
with a recording component.
The source component is not connected to
the DIGITAL INPUT jacks of this unit.
Some components cannot record Dolby
Digital or DTS sources.
The source component is not connected to
the analog AUDIO IN jacks of this unit.
"MEMORY GUARD" in "SET MENU"
is set to "ON".
The internal microcomputer has been
frozen hy an external electric shock (such
as lightning or excessive static electricity)
or by a power supply with low voltage.
Speaker cables are short-circuited.
Set '·SUR. L/R SP" and "SUR.S L/R SP" to a setting
other than ·'NONE".
Set '·SUR.S L/R SP" to a setting other than "NONE".
Make an appropriate setting following the operating
instructions for your component.
Set the audio input jack select to "AUTO".
Connect the audio cahles firmly. If the prohlem
persists, the cahles may he defective.
Connect the grounding cahle of the turntahle to the
GND terminal of this unit.
Connect your turntahle to this unit through an MC-
head amplifier.
Turn on the power of the component.
Connect the source component to the DIGITAL
INPUT jacks.

Set "MEMORY GUARD" to "OFF'.
Disconnect the power cahle from the AC \\:all outlet
