Turn the crankshaft so that the No. 1 piston is at top
d e a d c e n t e r ( F 2 2 A 1 e n g i n e : p a g e 6 - 2 8 , H 2 3 A 1
engine: page 6-62, H2241 engine: page 6-106).
Remove the timing belt and the timing balancer belt
(F22A1 engine: page 6-29, H23A1 engine: page 6-63,
H22A1 engine: page 6-'l07).
R e m o v e t h e t i m i n g b e l t t e n s i o n e r a n d t h e t i m i n g
balancer belt tensioner.
Bemove the timing belt drive pulley and the timing
balancer belt driven pulley (page 7-12).
R e m o v e t h e b a l a n c e . g e a r c a s e a n d t h e b a l a n c e r
driven gear (page 7-121.
Remove the oil pan and the oil screen.
R e m o v e t h e m o u n t i n g b o l t s a n d t h e o i l p u m p
assemory.

9. Remove the screws from the pump housing, then
separate the housing and cover.

Check the inner-to-outer rotor radial clearance on
the oumo rotor.

lf the inner-to-outer rotor clearance exceeds the
service limit, replace the inner and outer rotors.
1'1. Check the housing-to-rotor axial clearancs on the
oumo rotor.
